The 'oriental platform' lecture series was held in the auditorium of administration building in the new campus on Sept.13. Academician He Zuoxiu made a lecture on 'China will face the age of renewable energy resources'.

Academician He Zuoxiu mainly engaged himself in the scientific research on theoretical physics, history of science, natural dialectics, philosophy and political economy. In physics, he made a deep study of weak interaction theory and found a series of serious mistakes in the equation derived by Chew-Mandelstam. In the field of history of science, natural dialectics, philosophy and political economy, he focus on the philosophical problems of Marxism - Leninism in the study of particle physics. In recent years, he turned to the study of cosmology and dark matter. He also made great achievements in the study of the issues of educational fund, scientific and technologic policy, social economy and peace and disarmament.

As the issue of energy involved the development of society and economy and the improvement of people's living standards, Academician He Zuoxiu emphasized the necessity to develop renewable energy resource for China. He also analysed the country's prospect for such development. The lecture was quite wonderful. There was heated interaction between the academician and students and professors attended at the end of the lecture.
